This spring I was running my 463, and after about 20 minutes I notice it's boiling. The cooling fans weren't running, and after a lot of investigation, I concluded the alternator wasn't working. It took me until this week to replace it, and after a first test ride, it was charging as supposed to, and the cooling fans turned on when the temperature gauge went up in the green. Later in the day after a 30 minute run, there's a bang and steam pouring out the back. I was too much in a hurry to turn it off to notice the temperature, but it sure was boiling again. Are the fans supposed to run all the time, regardless of temperature? If they are regulated by temperature, where do I find the sensor? The manual supplied with the machine is not of much help. Appreciate any help on this matter!

They run all the time on the 463s its only on the new k series loaders that change due to temp, the loud pop was probably the rad side tanks bursting, I had one do this while running it once. Really easy repair, 4 bolts hold in the rad and then three clamps for the hoses and the conectors for the fans and it comes out as a unit, then remove the cooling fans and install on your new one. If it is the rad, replace your rad cap also.
