Hey guys i recently bought a bobcat 440B that is in fairly good shape with a new engine, my problem is that when i start the machine , the right side lever operates 100% forward and reverse no noise ,but the left lever will not go forward until fully pressed and after a while it slowly wants to engage with pulse with bad squealing/grunging noise ,pulling it back works better almost 90%. After letting idle for 30 min and using it bit it gets better and when fully warm both lever operates like new. Only when cold the left lever will not make skid go forward just the right side works good .I do live in Canada where it is between 0 to -15 Celsius when i operate for snow removal. 1.My lift arms are jumpy when cold but goes away after 30min of usage and the skid works like new. Im going to flush hydraulic fluid and filter ,dealer said 32 but I'm leaning toward motor oil as said previous? 1.Ive tried swapping the hose to motors but they are not long enough. Should i plug the hose by motor and see if my pump will stall engine when forward/reverse? 2.I can't tell if its the hydro pump or the hydraulic motor making the noise I can try swapping hydraulic motor but it is a small job i can tackle next week Main concern is drive motor squeal thanks

being where you are is most likely why the dealer said aw-32, maybe in the summer use aw-46 or universal tractor fluid . Which all is a lighter oil than 10/30 wt.

Aw-32 is what I’ll be putting in but what really gets me is the left drive motor does not operate properly when cold but the right side is good. Cant see any leaks but i think i’m sucking in air in the pump, seal kit may fix hmm.

If it were a oil viscosity issue, both sides would exhibit the same problem. I think You are correct in assuming there is a problem with the suspect side. Usually hydraulics operate better with thicker oil when there is worn components involved. Yours is opposite. About the only thing left other than your air leak theory is to eliminate the pump or motor as the problem.
You can dead head the pump on that side and see if the controls respond when cold, and compare when the opposite side is dead headed. that could eliminate the drive pump as the cause and confirm the drive motor.
