The 440b I recently acquired has been repowered with a honda gx690. The exhaust is via a Y pipe that exits thru same location as original exhaust but muffler is outside rather than inside engine compartment. My need. The original Kohler M series engine included sheetmetal to isolate cool air to blower from hot air out of blower and hot exhaust. It seems that none of the repower kits provide the extra sheetmetal to accomplish the same. Has anyone created there own isolation sheetmetal? At least some logitudinally mounted repower engines include a foam seal around the blower intake that seats against the engine compartment door.

Hi Bob, I found that most of the original sheet metal work fit when I installed my GX620 clone in my machine. The only one that I was unable to fit was the one that fits above the muffler. I chose to leave it out, as it did not appear to be shielding anything from heat. Nearly nine years later, no problems. Cheers - SR
