299d2 backup camera

Bought a used machine and the backup cam isn’t working. It has a camera and is plugged into the harness but there are no camera options in the advanced display at all. It’s as if it never had a camera. Local cat dealer said that if the camera is bad, the options in the display don’t show up. Can anyone confirm this? I hate to buy a $700 camera and it not fix the issue. Thanks for any help.

if I remember correctly I saw a post where someone was complaining about the short lifespan of those cameras and was thinking of a after market replacement. maybe do a little more research and get further details on this issue.

I will certainly do that. Was hoping someone could confirm that a bad cam would cause all cam related menu items in the display to disappear before I started in on that.

I put this on my 246. Inexpensive, quick & easy install. Works great. I can't imagine having a skid steer without a backup camera.

I can't imagine having a skid steer without a backup camera. I put this unit on my T190 Works great although don't use the machine a lot. cost was less then a $100 . A backup camera a must have with a skid steer.
