my 270 the steering is all eratic on one side, i've popped the cab and all is clean and shot a full can of wd on everything but sometimes it gets a mind of it's own and starts steering in one direction, iv'e call all the dealers and all they say is bring it in but thats like 60 miles to the closeest

Check the linkages, see if anything is loose. If it's nice and tight, the neutral adjustment must be out, I have never worked on one, but there will be a way to adjust it.

The steering adjustments on the 270 series are complex. You need to read the factory service manual and follow it. You need to block the machine up on 6x6 wood blocks, raise the ROPS and put the seat down with a rachet strap and then put on the seatbelt and start it from a ladder from the back. Unless you have the John Deere remote start box. The levers on the pump controls have several bushings and parts that wear out. Deere has redesigned several of the parts and control levers. It is trial and error taking several attempts till you get it to run smooth, not make noise when levers are released causing a break stall and track properly. I was told an experience JD mechanic will take most of a day to do it. Took me several days.
