Just bought a 2004 216b that has a "coolant temp high" light on all the time with a very faint beeping in the background. The light comes on as soon as the machine is started even cold overnight and o' course first thing I checked is the coolant level (good). What do you think? Bad sensor? Something plugging coolant flow somewhere? Any other ideas? Thx Glen

Wire shorted to ground or a bad sensor. Not sure wat Cat has for guages but could be a eletronic panel or computer failure to if like Bobcat. Verify the engine temp with a hand held temp guage or install a 2” automotive temp guage to be sure your ok then start with a sendor (you may be able to test the ohms on the old one if some kind Cat tech will give you the reading for each temp. (ie 70 degrees + 50 ohms, 100 degess = 65, 120 = 75 etc) or they may be cheap say $30 and just change it.
Failing that start digging through the wires.
Ken
