I recently acquired a 2012 Case TV380 because it had several issues that needed attention, and the previous owner decided to replace it with a newer model rather than invest more money into repairs.
One of the problems he mentioned was that the accelerator pedal/hand throttle stopped working. He didn't want to spend approximately $500 for a replacement, so he rigged it with a piece of baling wire attached to the actuator, allowing him to manually set the engine speed.
Since I have an electrical background, I removed the throttle assembly and inspected it. I didn't find anything that made me believe it was defective. After reinstalling it, I discovered that it began working again. However, it only continued to work until I turned off the main power disconnect switch.
What I've found is that if I start the engine, unplug the throttle connector, and then plug it back in, the throttle immediately starts working and continues to function normally. It has worked every time I've repeated this process.
I've inspected the connector pins, cleaned them with contact cleaner, and slightly adjusted the contact tension, but the issue persists. I'm wondering if anyone has experienced something similar or has any insight into what might be causing this problem.
At this point, I've even considered installing a toggle switch in the circuit to make it easier to interrupt and restore the connection without having to remove the floor pan every time I want to use the machine.
Any suggestions or troubleshooting ideas would be greatly appreciated.
