I have had this loader for a few years and this issue continues to bother me. After the unit has been setting for several days it may take 10 seconds to get oil pressure. If it has been running in the last 24 hours it is not near as bad. I have installed mechanical gauge and this has confirmed that this delay in oil pressure in not just a sender or something. Has anyone seen this issue? Is it broken or normal? I have talked to the new Holland dealership and they dont think anything needs to be done but it just seems so wrong. I want to avoid a rod sicking out of the block. Any input would be greatly appreciated. THANK YOU!!!

If it otherwise has good oil pressure when warm, probably nothing to worry about. Could be a cheap oil filter draining down, Fram is a cheap filter. Running the correct grade of oil in it?

I have tried napa gold, Donaldson and even the OEM filter from New Holland. None seemed to make a difference. One thing I have not changed is the oil type. I have always used Rotella 15/40. I also changed the pressure bypass valve in the engine thinking that that was causing leak down, but no difference. Thank You for your input!!!!!!

Don't listen to anyone who thinks that 10 second start ups without oil pressure is OK. I would never recommend that on any engine. I am not familiar with a New Holland engine but if your oil filter is remotely attached and is in a vertical position then I would remove it and check to see if it is full. If not I would investigate why it would be sucked back into the engine when stopped. A 10 second delay means some void in the oil system needs to be filled before the rest of the system gets any oil. You need to find out why. Maybe the oil cooler is draining. Where in the system is the oil pressure sender? Is it near the oil pump or on the filter housing? Do you have any oil leaks? Leaks are a two way street, not only can oil escape but air can re-enter when there is no pressure. Again, a 10 second delay will eventually be devastating to the engine in the future. You need to find and correct the cause. JMO...

the oil pressure sending unit is high on the engine, at the front of the block and the oil filter is screwed onto the side of the block oriented in a horizontal position. There are no engine oil leaks that I have seen. Mostly dry everywhere. I had been curious if the oil pickup tube seal could be leaking and would like to take it apart but it is not easy,, at all. A new engine however is both difficult and expensive. Thanks you for your input!!!!

I was searching for information and found a post on "just answer" that sounded like everything you are describing here. The mechanic Curtis B instructed the poster to replace the oil pressure relief valve as you said you did here. This was about a year ago. Anyhow, I did some searching for the oil flow diagram of the engine and could not find anything. My manual only shows the hydraulic flow diagram. And I couldn't seem to find anything on the internet. My advice would be to post up something in the New Holland section. Mike10 and Jerry over there know the NH machines very well, but they don't watch what is happening here in the bobcat section.
