Hello all, thank you in advance for any advice that may be given. We have a 2003 LS180, that has a Delphi fuel injection pump. Unfortunately I cannot read the plate that is on the bump as it looks like the ink/numbers have been rubbed off.. I am looking for a way to timing to TDC, but nothing seems to be matching up. I have spun the gear countless times and I cannot find any timing marks on the gear to save my life. If anyone could advise me as to what could be done(or even what the marks look like and where they would be that would be extremely helpful), or even maybe send me a link for a DIY I would forever be grateful. I have tried searching but did not find anything pertaining to this. I will update with pictures once I get them uploaded and ready to go!

Without marks, can you supply fuel to the pump, turn it till you get fuel out of number one delivery nozzle? If your match this to TDC for #1 piston, you will be close. The fuel inection is a few degrees before piston TDC, so it will get you close to where you want to be.

As you have found out there are no marks to time the injection pump. There is, however, a procedure to put the engine in time so the injection pump can be removed. It will require some simple tools to be made which is easily done. The ability to upload files to this forum is limited so I can not supply the information through this forum. I will try to upload the information to another site tonight where pdf files can be uploaded. If I get the files uploaded then I will post back here are where to find the files.

Click on My NH repair etc. The first post is a list of all the repair posts in that thread. Scloll down until you get to the skid loader section. Find the one about timing the LS180 etc and click on the link to open the pdf file. Right now the post is the last one on page three if you want ot search that way.
