I finally had a chance to try out my Bobcat (Erskine) blower as we have not had our usual dose of winter snow. We got about 4" of fairly dense snow so I decided to give it a try. I know on these smaller machines the aux flow is low, so I went with the 66" wide SB200 so I wouldn't overpower the hydraulics. Even with this smaller blower I was told to take it slow so it doesn't clog up. Headed down the drive, doing pretty well, snow was tossed about 20 feet off the edge of the driveway. Then noticed the flow from the chute lessened, pretty soon I was pushing more than blowing. Thought it was just clogged up so tried to give it some time to clear, that worked for a while, but then it got worse and worse. Finally I realized the fan was turning but not the auger. This has the direct drive auger so there shouldn't be a shear pin. Dealer thinks I broke a key or maybe the motor shaft broke. Auger turns free by hand with machine off except for one slight resistance point so I think (hope) it is just a key. Pretty disappointed though that it would shear a key in the first 30 minutes of operation in 4" of snow. I'll take a stab at taking it apart tonite rather than mule it 80 miles to the dealer. Any one else have this issue? Cheers Creek

The SB200 is a true reliable work horse. I had countless municipalities running those with very few issues. Normal problems where the operator hitting and damaging the electrical cord, or ingesting something hard. Did you buy this new? If so I'd consider it a fluke and let warrant cover it. If you bought it used, I'd guess the last guy running hit something, doing 95% of the damage and you did the rest. As for your machine running a SB200, as long as you have the motor packaged sized to your 17 GPM output, a 753 has more then enough power to run it like as champ.

I bought it new last Sept, just finally got a chance to use it now. We got nailed with storm after storm last year, this year has been one of those really low snow years in our area. So this happened in the first hour of operation. Dealer will cover it, but I hate to haul it all the way over and back. So I'll prob just take it apart and have a look, see if I can find out what it is and get the parts. Good to know it is a normally reliable beast. cheers, Creek

It's only 6 bolts to pull the auger off. Rather than 160 mile round trip to drop it off and another 160 miles to pick it up, I'll at least have a stickybeak at it. If it looks major, I'll pop it on the trailer. Unfortunately tomorrow is the only day I have to do it and the high is -5F. cheers, Creek
