2001 763 runs full throttle when started

I just changed the fuel filter, purged the system and started the engine up only to find it runs at full revs with the control lever in the idle position. What happened? What should I look for? thnx

Wondering if you may have inadvertently jarred something with the linkage? assuming it's a mechanical link (rod/cable) from the lever to the injector pump? you probably checked that but that's all I can think of without looking at it.

no, the linkage seems to be working properly.

Found the problem. It was a one way unhooked linkage issue not easily noticeable.
