Hey all, I have an issue starting my 873. Just burned up a fuel solenoid, replaced it. Thought I was getting air in line as it was not starting, not the issue. I turn the key and engine turns over but not starts. I wait a few mins and I hear the solenoid trip, its starts fine. Thought I would replace the plug, cant get one. I multimetered the plug, good ground but could not get a reading on the other 2 spots. only 2 wires going into a 3 prong solenoid. So is it a computer issue, new one of those in the last few years. timer issue, not a fuse, cause that's still good. It runs fine once starts, but its tempermental restarting.

Welcome to the forum! Good buncha smart dudes here! Let me ask a few questions regarding your 873. What model/year 873 and what control system? I think you meant that you had recently replaced the computer module. Keyless or keyed? I assume it has the Deutz M1011 engine with the fuel cut-off solenoid on the right hand end of the engine as viewed from the rear. How did that burn up? That fuel-cutoff solenoid should actuate as soon as the key is turned on. You should not hear that solenoid click later. The new fuel solenoids have a funny harness and extra connector that you have to work around somehow (called a "pipe"). I forget how I made mine work but can check if need be. :) ---Bobbie-G

Its a 2000 yr. 873 G. Keyed, not sure of the control system you mean, hyd over hyd controls. Pretty sure its a Deutz engine. Yep the fuel shotoff solenoid is on the right, next to the alternator. It burned up when I was moving hay bales, died right when i had a bale up in the air. It kept blowing the 30 amp fuse under my legs. kept replacing the fuse to get it down and onto a trailer, then it would not do anything when i had it on the trailer. replaced the soleniod, and seemed to work fine. I have read in this fourm to multimeter the plug, did that, but have not came up with anything. thanks for the help. its a really nice machine, i hardly use it. light work like feeding cows moving hay, occasional digging trees. New computer at a bobcat dealer/imp dealer 3 or 4 yrs ago, had to take it in for them to program it.

UPDATE- the service tech at the bobcat dealer says to check voltage at the solenoid before the "click" and then after the click. he also says there is a Gateway Controller? anyone know what that does? THansk

UPDATE- So i turned the key, multimetered the plug, only got a ground, nothing on the other 2 spots. Usually the solenoid tripped after a minute of 2. It did not, so I turned the engine over and it took its normal minute and a half to trip. pulled the plug and i got the ground, and got 12 volts at one of the spots, but never got volts on the other spot. Any ideas? Thanks
