2000 773F that had a shorted battery replaced. After replacing the battery the unit starts right up but the fuel shutoff solenoid clicks on and off and it throws out error codes and the aux hydraulics don’t work quite right. It's been at the dealer for 6 months now. They tell me the computer part no 6669167 (it’s the big black BCIS) needs to be replaced and that the company who made th board is out of business. Is the computer sealed? like epoxy filled? or could I take it apart and look for obvious component failure. Is there a company that repairs these boards? Any more options?? Kind of lost here. Thanks. Steve

What is the first 7 digits of the serial number and is this a Boss machine? I just looked at the online parts and it showed the controller as no longer available on the ones I looked at but says to order the push to operate kit. I didn't look at all the different serial number breaks.

The fuel shut off solenoid is not computers controled on an f series, I don't think even a boss system has direct control over the solenoid except for protective shut down. If the boss is bad, convert to non boss, best money you can spend.

BOSS is good when it works, pain in the ring when it doesn't. Thankfully they have come a long way since that was first introduced.
I can tell you how to by-pass the fuel shut solenoid, but i can't tell you how to get the aux hydraulics to work though....
BICS is far less trouble and the senders are a fraction of the cost of a BOSS style.
Dan - how hard is it to convert it to a BICS system?

Rereading your post, Im confussed. The BICS has nothing to do with fuel shut off or aux function. BICS moduals are readily available, I just ordered one Tuesday. The aux has a little modual for it it. The solenoid is controlled by a relay and a timer modual. Even if it is BOSS which the OP never said it was, BOSS is not tited into aux at all.

OK, I have more information. Some of what I posted originally is wrong, and I apologise for that. It's a 1998 serial no 509646872 It does have the Boss system w/digital gauge. The BOSS part no is 6669167 I'm told from the dealer the new number is 6669686. So does this mean (out of curiosity) that it has the BICS and BOSS? It sounds to me like one or the other. Thanks for all the info so far. Again I never stop learning about things that are new to me.

All machinces of your vintage had BICS wheter it had BOSS or not. BOSS and BIC are two different systems. BICS controls safty functions like the brake and lift and tilt lock out, nothing eles. AUX function is a diffrent very basic little modual. BOSS was an optional system which was an early form of computer controlled montitoring of sensor with the added function of protective shut down, say low oil pressure, the machine should shut off before it can hurt itself.

Is there anyone that I can send the BOSS unit out to to have checked and or repaired? I took the cover off and the circuit board does not have any visual damage.
