Does anyone know if bobcat is going to release a 2-speed track skidloader. I have heard they were but dont know for sure if or when.
I would like to see a 2 speed that has 100% of it's max. torque to the drive motors below 3 mp/h for extreme pushing and fine grading, then hit the 2 speed button and get only 60% torque. What is the need for two speed on a track machine? I can see the need on a skid...on pavement and need to get from one sid eof the job to the other but a track machine is used off road and the need to go faster is not needed...as long as the single speed is up speed...just something else to cause problems... dozers and track loader do not have 2 speeds do they????
Bobcat does already, it's the snail button on the SJC machines. On lever machines, it's all operator skill and intuition.I would like to see a 2 speed that has 100% of it's max. torque to the drive motors below 3 mp/h for extreme pushing and fine grading, then hit the 2 speed button and get only 60% torque.
And yes, Dozers have more than 1 speed, they are called “gears”, some of them have up to 4 “gears” like the powershift Deeres did before Hystats became the fad..
Somebody must be asking for a 2-speed track if case, cat, and gehl offer it. It doesnt matter to me if its a 2- speed or a faster, one speed, a faster machine would be nice. I run a tree business and i do most of my work within about a 2 mile radius of my home. It would be nice to have a track machine to float across clients properties and have the speed to go from job to job without trailering it. I run bobcat stump grinder and a H&H root grapple on my 250. A 2-speed t would also be used around our 1200 acre farm picking rocks, clearing trees that have fallen into fields along soggy river banks, and farm yard work. I have no doubt that a faster bobcat track machine would have its place. I have been on a bobcat since i was 4 years old. I never have or will look and any other brand. What is the need for two speed on a track machine? Hey Brian I got wondering about this and I had the interest to spend the time.Somebody must be asking for a 2-speed track if case, cat, and gehl offer it. Just curious BrianHey Brian I got wondering about this and I had the interest to spend the time.
Model Speed Low MPH Speed Hi MPH
Case 450CT 5.1 8.0
Cat 279C 5 8.5
Gehl CTL85 4.8 7.5
Bobcat T320 6.6
I'm bonehead math, so check, but I come up with
2 miles at 8.5 mph = 14.1 minutes Cat(Hare)
2 miles at 6.6 mph = 18.2 minutes Bobcat(Tortoise)
I remember when I was younger and the US national speed limit was 55 mph, with the environmentalists throwing time comparisons like this around, and how lame I thought they were-I just wanted to go FASTER!
Didn't the tortoise win in the end.....=).
