1999 bobcat 863 f hour meter

Hey all I just have a quick question. On this machine does the hour meter start ticking when the key is on or when the engine is running. I'm fighting a wiring issue on this new to me machine. I traced the three wire harness to the left side of the machine that hooks into the hydraulic fluid sensors but the yellow and brown wire, the ground for the hour meter, runs to nowhere. Hour meter is not working until I ground that yellow and brown wire. Any idea on where that three wire plug runs to or where the meter gets its ground? Any ideas will be great. Thanks, Mat

The hour meter gets its ground from the oil pressure sender, so when the machine is running the our meter works, when it's not it stops. This prevents it ticking over when the key is left on by mistake.

Thanks for the reply and I was thinking the same but actually I ran it down through the wiring diagram and it runs of the hydraulic charge pressure sender. I have a new sender on order so hopefully that will take care of the issue. My current sender was unhooked when I purchased the machine and I believe it is stuck open. As soon as I plug it in and the key is on the hour meter starts ticking. I'll let you know if it's fixed with the new one.
