I just received my new to me Bobcat on Monday. I'm setting it up for snow removal and I need a functioning back up alarm, cause I'll be using it in close proximity to tourists... I live in a resort town, and I've noticed that people on holidays have a nasty tendancy to leave thier common sense at home. So I talked to the 2nd owner from new tonight and the back up alarm never worked for him, seeing as he lived alone on an acerage it was never a concern for him. So I took off the existing original Ecco alarm and bench tested it and it didn't work, so I was able to get a new one from the local NAPA and installed it and still doesn't work. I also bench tested the new one prior to installing. So I tipped the cab and checked the micro switches, 1 was slightly out of alignment, so I realigned it. I had 1 blown accessories fuse, so I replaced that, my wipers now work on the door, but still no BUA. So does anyone have any ideas, suggestions, diagrams, or thoughts on what my problem may be? Also, while I'm into wiring issues, I want to hard wire a low profile strobe light and was wondering if there is existing wiring that can be easily tapped into for power/swithing? My machine has the BICS but no other computers, when I tipped the cab I seen a lot of unused wires/cables not being used. Currently I have the tradebit.com site bookmarked for a service manual, but I don't have my serial number at home with me, so I'll have to get a manual tomorrow. Thank you in advance for any help you can send my way.

use a test light , start at the micro switches and test , work your way back to the horn ----------------if you bought an alarm from Napa it probally has a metal strap on the ground lug which ground the horn thru the mounting bolt , that strap needs to be removed --------sometimes it is far less time consuming to just run another wire rather than try and find the problem -------------the power supply wire for the back up alram is usually a single orange wire with a square plastic plug that has a flat spade blade and is located with the cab up on the left side towards the rear down low -------it may just be unpluged cause someone didn't want to hear it
