Hello my name is Michael I'm new to this forum. I have a 1997 bobcat 873c serial# 514115088 (Boss) that I'm having an intermittent problem with the front auxiliary hydraulic circuit not working for a bradco backhoe that I'm trying to use.
When I push the button to engage auxiliary hydraulics once the top light illuminates and when I push the button twice the lower light illuminates then when I squeeze the trigger on the right steering handle the lower light goes out and the upper light flashes. Can someone please give me some ideas on the possible causes. Thanks.

Could you make a small video?

Hello Foxworthy cowboy.
The function for the front auxiliary is working again. More explanation. Just as I said before I push the auxiliary hydraulics button once and the top light illuminates push it again and the bottom light illuminates ( both lights are on) and then when I pull the trigger on the right control to start continuous flow to the backhoe the bottom light goes out and the upper light flashes (no flow to front attachment)
I noticed this happens the same way on the left joystick but instead of the upper light flashing the lower light flashes and the upper light goes out.
I checked all wiring and it looks good coils are good and coil stems are free
Could my problem be with a safety switch. Lap bar?

Hello foxworthy cowboy
I'm still having an intermittent front auxiliary hydraulic function problem with my 97 873c bobcat. The hydraulic circuit works fine and then it will randomly drop out. There is a aux hydraulic button under the boss display on upper right corner of cab, I push the button twice and the pull the trigger on the right joystick and I get hydraulic pressure to the attachment then it will stop and the aux button will start flashing. Do you know what the problem could be? What could be interrupting the circuit?

Have you checked the fluid level?

The front auxiliary hydraulic circuit on the 1997 Bobcat 873C may not be functioning due to several common issues.

Possible Causes

  • Electrical Issues: Check the wiring and connections related to the auxiliary hydraulic system. Faulty wiring or a malfunctioning switch can prevent the circuit from engaging.
  • Hydraulic Fluid Levels: Ensure that the hydraulic fluid is at the correct level. Low fluid can lead to inadequate pressure for the auxiliary circuit.
  • Control Valve Problems: The control valve may be stuck or malfunctioning, preventing the hydraulic flow from reaching the auxiliary circuit.
  • Pump Issues: Inspect the hydraulic pump for any signs of wear or failure, as this can affect the overall hydraulic performance.
Troubleshooting Steps

  1. Inspect Electrical Connections: Look for loose or damaged wires.
  2. Check Hydraulic Fluid: Verify that the fluid is at the recommended level.
  3. Test Control Valves: Manually operate the valves to see if they are functioning correctly.
  4. Consult the Service Manual: Refer to the service manual for specific troubleshooting guidance.
Addressing these areas should help identify and resolve the issue with the auxiliary hydraulic circuit.

The flashing light on the AUX button is indicative of an electrical problem somewhere in the auxiliary control circuit.. If I remember right, the lights will flash a sequence and this is the trouble code that you'll have to look up in your manual if you have one, or post the code here and hopefully someone with a manual will be able to tell you what the code means.
