I have a 1997 873 with cable hand controls. When I start it up everything works fine but after about 10 seconds all the lights on the BICS start flashing continuously and the hydraulics lock up. any ideas? In the repair manual it says the BICS controller may be wet or bad. I took it off and it is not wet. that is the only ifo i can find in the repair manual to say anything about this problem. Any help would be appreciated.

Low voltage or a bad ground will cause all the BICS lights to flash. Check all the grounds and connectors for corrosion.

thanks for the info. voltage was the problem. I had put a new alternator on late last summer and a new battery so I didnt think that would be a concern but when i had the alternator tested today it was putting out 17+ volts. Thanks again, you saved me some $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Yes voltage above 16+ will cause all the lights to flash too. It's kind of rare for it to happen so I didn't mention it in the earlier post. Glad you got it sorted out.
