I recently purchased my first skid steer which ended up being a 1990 753 based on the serial number. I only mention this because when I bought it I was told it was a 1998, I have quickly learned that checking the serial number is important. My machine is in pretty rough shape but it is all I have to work with so I am trying to make the best of it. I recently have noticed that I am lacking power on the left side drive. It is getting hard to turn right because of this. Every once in awhile the left side jerks and seems to have full power until I back off on the left lever. The left side does seem to have normal power in reverse. I have been reading on the forum and my understanding is there is a left an right hydrostatic pump and wheel motor. Sounds like the control levers control a squash plate in the pump to control oil flow/pressure to each motor? I am looking for some guidance trying to troubleshoot this problem. Any help would be appreciated.
