1983 bobcat 540-Engine replace

I picked up a Bobcat 540 with the K582s engine. The engine thru a rod and is shot. I am having a tough time finding a replacement. Does anybody know where to find one? Is there a different engine that can be put in here? Any help will be appreciated. Thanks

I had noticed the upgrade to a 24 hp honda. I was hoping someone had done it. I am curious how the engine with a sprocket adapts to the spline coupler. Not sure if the shaft under the honda sprocket was the same taper as the spline on the 582. Had a difficult time getting that spline off the shaft to check sizing. Wondering what other mods where needed and how complete the installation kit is. It would be great if you would give an update when you check it out. Thanks for the fast replies. I appreciate all the info guys.

My engine kit arrived yesterday and seems well designed. It changes the spline coupling to a double chain design with a sprocket included to put on the pump. I'll post more when I start putting it together....probably a couple of weeks.

Finally getting around to installing the new engine...the brackets are sized ok but need to be modified a little to make everything line up. Some of the bolt holes were too small. The chain coupling lined up well and seems plenty strong. Kit comes with choke & throttle cables, and muffler...muffler fits well, haven't installed the cables yet. Found some major chewed wiring in the dash while changing the key switch out...maybe another week or so I'll have time to do more work on it.
