Hey guys, first post here and one that may make me a Bobcat owner. . . The machine is a 1981 722 that has an unknown number of hours on it. It's been owned by my cousins farm since almost new. It was used in the dairy and around the farm for the last 30 ish years. It's been rode hard for sure. A few leaks here and there but still seems to keep on ticking. It's the machine I learned to run a skid steer in and is still the machine I probably have the most hours in out of any I've run. It isn't pretty for sure, but we're trying to come up with a fair value for me to take it to my acreage and make it my light duty land scaping/snow clearing toy. Can anyone give me a good idea of what it's worth. The guy who dropped off the new one said $5000 no problem, but I think thats WAY high. I talked to a Bobcat tech on another forum who said $1500 max if it was mint. (It's FAR from mint. . .) So, that being said, looking for opinions on value. Things seem to sell high around here. Just take a look at the Kijiji listings for skid steers in Alberta, Canada to get an idea what guys want for other machines. Any help is appreciated. I realize this thing could just end up a giant headache, but my cousin has been wrenching on it since he was 10 years old, he lives 10 minutes away, and all his knowledge is at my disposal. I'm also a very competent hobby mechanic. Not much I won't tackle.

Ok, I'm totally new here, but does this forum always cram your whole post into one big paragraph? I spaced it all out nice and neat and easy to read and then I posted it and it's just one big mess of words? Is that normal?

Yeah it drives me crazy. I couldnt get HTML coding to work correctly either. I would say atleast 3500 probably more like $5000 if it runs well. It can lift a good ammount, it can still do 90% of what newer machines can (for grading etc) so it has alot of value to either a home owner, farm owner, small business owner (concrete or landscaping) so it will always have a minumun value. Im my searching for one i have come up with this. Any good running skid steer is worth atleast $3500 in the same comparison that any good running/driving car is worth atleast $500. someone not needing anything fancy is going to want it.
