I have an early to mid 70's OMC 310 skid, runns and works perfect except that it does not have float, does anyone know of a valve i can swap into my rig to give it float?

Chances of finding something that is a direct fit would be pretty slim, IMHO, unless you can find a junk machine with the float option.
You could try Surplus Centre and see if they have something that you could adapt.
What make is the control block in your machine?

Are you sure it is not just a non functiong detent on the valve spool?
Will the boom float if you hold the boom control in the fully down position?
Often the detents on these valves quit functioning. If the pump for the boom quites labouring when you push the control to fully lowered then it has float. If it keeps trying to lower the boom then it does not.
