Hello a NEWBY here, I recently purchased my first Case skid steer. It is a 1982 1845 (have owned a CL40 for 26 years) it had a rod knocking so I have pulled the engine and have another one ready to install. After cleaning out years of grease and grime I was replacing all of Heim joints and ALOT of other cobbled up messes, I came across a slight drip (5 drops per minute) on the left side drive pump control shaft. I have removed the neutral control assembly and the control arm and I see there is a snap ring on the control shaft (also one on the other end). Not sure of my next move, after removing the snap rings will I be able to replace an O ring? I have purchased a 1845 Case service manual but its a little vague about the control shaft, the Hydraulic pump illustration doesn't show the control shaft at all. thanks for all of your help

I'm not sure either.
All i can suggest is to remove the snap rings and see if anything moves. Bobcat have plates that bolt to the pump that the shafts go through. You remove the plates and the seals are easy to swap out. Is there anything like this in your setup?

I did that this morning, installed a new O ring reinstalled cover and snap ring. The leak is still there. Looks like I am pulling the whole assembly out now. It will be the first time for me, not looking forward to it. poop

Well that is less than great news.... Let us know how you go with it on the bench.
I would have thought that the seal would be a lip seal, not just an Oring.

I'm looking at a similar issue- what did you ever do to resolve your issue?
