1840 left side wheels only move backwards

I just replaced the shaft in the tandem pumps on my 1995 1840. I installed the pump and now the left side wheels will not turn forward. The wheels do spin backwards when you pull the control back. The right side wheels turn forward and backwards just fine. Does anybody have any ideas?
