I put on a new fuel pump new filter new spark plug and had carb rebilelt. still not geting gas It turns over but only starts if I put gas in carb. any help would be great. this is an older 1816 case and it has always ran well. I have been playing around with it for over a month. thanks to any one who can help.

Does the carby have an electric fuel stop solenoid on it at all? could it not be working?
I would have suspected the carby first, but you state that it has been re-built.... I wonder if they did it wrong?

thanks for the reply. but the only thing that is wrong is it is not geting any gas. and i do not know why. the carb is mechinical no solenoid. i can suck gas up from the tank but the fule pump does not pull any up and this is the 2nd pump i have put on. could it be in the wirering

I don't know your engine... is the fuel pump electric or mechanical? If it's mechanical, check the cam lobe that drives the pump. If electric, is it getting power?
Did you try disconnecting the fuel line from the carb and crank the engine (directing the gas into a container)?
Maybe the pump needs to be primed. Try pouring some gas directly into the pump.

take the fuel line and put it in a can of gas eliminating the tank qnd try to run. I bet the tank is full of rust plugging the outlet to the pump
