    to buy or lease

See, that's an attitude that puzzles me greatly. - If you buy a machine, the entire cost of the machine is a deductible and indeed depreciable item. Sure, you may need to spread it out over a few years (depending on your income/tax planning) but for the life of me, I can't see any benefit to...

    Kanga Loader

Yes. I did buy it with the intent to rent it out but it's making me so much money when I drive it that I think I'll order a new one within the year and keep the new one solely for myself.

Yes, I read that one just recently. IIRC, it was for digging out a cattle grid trough or similar.

    Comparing business methods

Yeah, it is a good deal for them but it works out pretty well for everyone - I make a percentage on top of what I pay them, plus I also have revenue coming in from my own machines. As far as quoting goes, I don't do "quotes" as such. I give Estimates, with plenty of caveats and exclusions. I...

    Comparing business methods

I'm curious to know how others operate, so here's what I'm doing at present: I own two Kanga SSLs; one Kid (small machine) and one 8 Series (equivalent to S70 Bobcat.) I have two guys who subcontract to me. They own their machines. One has a Kubota K008 and the other has a Case loader that lifts...

    Hey Everyone!

Hi. Your website looks pretty good - simplicity is best, I reckon. One thing: it doesn't seem to state where you are/which areas you service.

Actually, I have yet to rent this one out at all! - I drive it myself!

    Kanga Loader

Yeah but at least I won't have to think about them for a loooooong time. The couplings I got are Italian made flat-face ones, which cost about $200 each. The OEM couplings are about $30 a throw but I figure that since I'm so reliant on this particular machine, I don't mind buying the absolute...

The perils of buying used machinery: I've spent $1600 on new hoses and couplings. Thank goodness the local Pirtek guy is cool and gets to me promptly!

Mate, you should see what my 8 Series can handle: http://i723.photobucket.com/albums/ww235/Rainb0wSeven/IMAG2255.jpg http://i723.photobucket.com/albums/ww235/Rainb0wSeven/IMAG2256.jpg

Man, I don't know how it works but it's certainly effective enough for my needs. FYI, I was on a job all day today with my new 8 Series machine. It performed brilliantly. I filled two 9 cubic metre bins with concrete and soil in less than three hours, with a travel distance of 25 metres for each...

    Kanga Loader

Well, I know what you mean but in my experience, it really comes down to the skill of the operator. - People who are abrupt on the controls and try to drive a skid steer like it's a car will certainly get thrown around. The wheeled version is also noticeably jerky in comparison to the tracked...

    Kanga Loader

Well, I'm going to resurrect this thread... I did a lot of research before buying my first Kanga. - I talked to a lot of landscapers and builders, and the feedback was overwhelmingly that Kanga was the preferred brand of mini-loader here in Australia. A number of people said they preferred the...

Too right, mate! BTW, yesterday I bought the 8 Series Kanga. It is a total beast and I can't wait to put it to work.

BTW, I'm not doing a lot of hiring to weekend warriors; the majority of my work is Wet Hire to larger contractors. When I first started out, I thought that most of my work would indeed be Dry Hire to the DIY crowd but it turned out to be the opposite of that.
