    Battery Maintainer Question

this made me think a bit more about "modern" systems. Wouldn't you think the manufacturers had thought of this battery drain issue and have preventative logic / electrical logic in place to stop this happening? This concept of battery drain doesn't ring quite true. . .

    Battery Maintainer Question

Thanks! No, my old crappy maintainers do NOT have the fuse, but will install one NOW! I just now ordered a good one that DOES have that. My 2003 ASV track loader has no added on electronics, pretty much every accessary is OFF when ignition is off, no special sensors or screens, toggle switches...

    Battery Maintainer Question

Thanks for your post. Do I understand correctly? -- use a battery disconnect switch, mainly to prevent theft of unit; but also, -- to prevent battery drain from other on board sources? thanks.

    Battery Maintainer Question

I have been using a cheap battery tender and connecting it directly to my installed battery on my 2003 ASV track loader with no apparent damage for a few years. Please tell me what the concern is here when failing to use a battery disconnect switch. thanks!

    Battery Maintainer Question

Great post and thanks for the heads up. Yes, Schumacher IS the big name in the business. 60 years ago my Dad sold their products at his tire and battery store. It is a shame. Just guessing but: -- likely their stuff, like most others, comes out of China. -- The person's manager saw what was...

New, returning member, SR 80 ASV owner

Hello folks, I've owned an older ASV track loader about six years. Had only some minor problems with it. I've found it interesting to learn of others' problems and understand some of the general troubleshooting folks do. Attachments: grapple, bucket, forks, land planer Desired attachments...

    L785 seat switch

Possibly. The question is: "Is there a conducting line (metal) all the way from the machine frame(ground) through the seat frame, into the switch body, and then to the grounded side of the switch?" A way to test this is to mount an(electrically) insulating member between the machine frame...

    L785 seat switch

It's amazing what a guy will do to logically solve a problem. Your episode is a perfect example of the plugger-fixit mentality we have. Just the same, if the electrical engineer who designed that switch assembly was reading this he would be jumping up and down! It is really hard to...

    Turn off or idle?

I do the same but have a 4 cyl Perkins diesel in my ASV SR80. It starts really fast and never have any problems. Never have really understood truckers and other diesel users letting it idle long time. . . Some people park and lock their diesel pickups outside home stores / Walmart and let it...

What kind of blower to buy?

Ohhh, man. I used a bucket the first 2 yrs living here in the boonies with my 1/3 mile lane and it DID work; best around the house where lots of maneuvering was required: garage, front door, parking. One is forced to fill it for a 100 ft and then angle it off to the side and repeat for a...

What kind of blower to buy?

Interesting, to me, why you use a snow blower. I got a good price on one for my ASV SR-80 3 yrs ago and had to put some time into it with a new switch and lubing it. It worked perfectly as far as it was designed. However, for my application with a 1/3 mile long lane and with 8 or 10" snows...

    CAT 277C(sister to SR80)

thanks, the manual my neighbor has is worthless for listing the codes. Only tells diff. between whether it is flashing or not, nothing on specific codes; no specific code # shows also-- just exclamation point. But, it may be useful to disconnect and look for codes. . . but too late now. He...
