    743 will not start

I had this same problem with my 743B. After changing the bulb, fuel pump, filter, etc. I found the problem. The fuel pickup tube inside the fuel tank had become rotten and had broken off inside the fuel tank. So even though the tank was full of fuel...the tube was broken off above the fuel...

Broken fuel tank/level sensor? Only holds 1/2 gallon?

I have a 743B that did the same thing......it turned out to be what Taz says. The pickup tube had broken off and was lying in the bottom of the tank. If yours has done that....make sure you get a replacement tube material that can stay submerged in diesel without degrading. Good luck.

    Case 85XT with brush cutter

The brusher requires 12 gpm, I don't know what the max would be. Engine RPM (low or high) does not seem to help. The surge you get while moving the boom cylinders as the flow is directed there momentarily is exactly what is happening to me except when I move the levers forward or back, the flow...

Case skid steer - horrible groaning noise from pumps/motors

Don't really know what the “HTO” stands for. Everywhere I went looking for it.......no one knew what I was talking about so I had to buy it from the Case dealer. My bobcat manual says if you don't have access to the Bobcat brand fluid to use 10W30 so they must be very similar. I know that...

Case skid steer - horrible groaning noise from pumps/motors

I have a Case 85XT and the label next to the hydraulic fluid fill cap says “HTO Additive required”. My manual says to use 10W30 oil with 5% HTO additive. I asked my local Case mechanic about the additive and he said they had a skidsteer come in moaning and groaning and they put in the HTO...

    743B troubleshooting

WhewHoo!! That fixed it! In fact, it seems to be smoother and have more power than the other side. I may as well pull the other motor and put a new set of seals in it too. It will only cost me $70. In thinking about the $70........the one o-ring cost me 82 cents, so the nine seals in the plastic...

    743B troubleshooting

Got o-ring from Bobcat. Surprisingly, the o-ring only cost 82 cents.......but cost about 5 bucks to ship it to me. Got everything put back together this afternoon after work but it got dark on me before I could test it. Tommorrow I'll top off the fluid and see if I did any good.

    743B troubleshooting

The allenhead sockets and a breaker bar did the trick......all came out with no damage. So here's how it went: When I removed the flange I noticed the back side was scored by the steel balls that are in the geroler. See pic: Now I was looking at this: The geroler looked pretty...

    743B troubleshooting

Bought a set of socket allens today so I should be able to put my breaker bar on it now. These bolts are recessed in the flange of the motor so getting down in there to strike it is not possible. If I were to ream out one of these bolts, I'm screwed, so which would be the safest...

    743B troubleshooting

My seal kit came in today so I'm gonna try and rebuild it this weekend. $70 bucks for a few o-rings sounds outrageous but if it works it's better than $850. The motor is held together with 1/2" allen key bolts......I have already ruined two allen keys and I haven't gotten one bolt loose yet...

    743B troubleshooting

Put the tires back on today and gave it a test drive......no luck, acts just the same. Decided to go ahead and pull the motor. Spent the rest of the afternoon plugging the lines and cleaning the motor real good so I can take it apart and have a look. Bobcat sells a seal kit for this motor which...

    743B troubleshooting

Well, I got off a little early today so I pulled the shuttle valve to have a look. All the springs and poppets looked fine but I did notice that the seats down in the motor that the poppets rest against were a little rough. I couldn't tell if they were pitted or just some sort of sludge buildup...

    743B troubleshooting

Wow, cracks...I hope that's not the case with mine. I was just thinking that since it works great in one direction and not the other. And also that it will work sometimes and then quit, that maybe it's not a worn or broke part, but a sticking part. I'll have a look this weekend.

    743B troubleshooting

Glad to see you back Goodtech! Thanks for the advice. I guess I'll take one of the allen key screws out and remove the shuttle valve to see if any of the springs or other parts are damaged. Haven't got anything to lose, may as well try. Can I remove it all from one side or will I have to remove...

Tip for setting neutral on steering levers.

Tell me about it. I have spent countless hours adjusting my 743B trying to get it just right. I finally got it pretty close and said "good enough". BTW Tazza, mine occasionally makes that same sound yours does. I can generally move the lever and make it stop.
