    Another Hydraulic oil question

I understand Bobcat came out with their new synthetic hydraulic fluid. But at my dealer they told me so many people complained that they also brought the old fluid back. Well its time for me to change out the fluids in my S650. Would you go with the old fluid or would you buy the new more...

    Quick Attach Tree Shear

I bought a Quick Attach Tree Shear a couple years ago getting ready to cut down a whole lot of cedar trees. It works very well for me. I've been told the single knife shear doesn't get out of alignment like a double knife shear could, and it just plain works, and it works very well. The blade...

Looking to buy new skid steer and would like opinions.

I was looking for a used S185 or S250 last year, and all I could find were ones that had seen quite a bit of hard use. Then I ran across an S650 with less than 600 hours on it, and it had only fed buffalo, and looked pretty much like new. I hadn't planned to spend that much on a machine but the...

Skid steers should only be operated at full throttle

My S650 has plenty of power at 1,600 - 2,000 rpm. They tell me the new Tier 4 engines require to be run at full throttle when a sensor collects a certain amount of carbon from exhaust gases. I have run mine at full throttle in high range, to move from one place to another when it is too close to...

Newbie to forum with cedar tree removal questions

I wanted to give an update. We just bought a used 2011 S650 Bobcat, with 598 hours, in pristine condition. We've used it around our place some but the real test will be the cedar tree removal project next spring. We planned to buy a smaller one, but this one was just too nice to pass up. I'll...

    Stereo in skid?

Our S650 Bobcat came with a radio. Sound quality is ok but not fantastic. If you used an mp3 with radio, ear buds with ear muff hearing protectors over your ears, you can turn the volume way down, and sound quality can be as good as the quality of the ear buds you get. That's my 2 cents worth.

    Skid Steer and Cedar Clearing

I hope others respond. My wife and I just bought a 2011 S650 Bobcat for cedar tree clearing. I plan to buy a non rotating shear, about 800 pounds. We were originally going to buy an S185 or similar machine. We ran across the S650 which was in pristine condition with low hours, and went for that...

Newbie to forum with cedar tree removal questions

Thanks Tazza & Shepherd for the replies. The land is moderately to steeply sloped. I figure the lion's share is on land with slope that a bobcat can operate on. After walking through the trees last weekend, I can see that this is a somewhat long term job, even if I take a week off here and...

Newbie to forum with cedar tree removal questions

Hi, this is my first post. I want to buy a skid steer to do several things, but in particular to remove 5,000 to 7,000 cedar trees with a tree shear. This is on pasture land. The shear I want to use weighs 1,280 pounds. I like the Bobcat brand. Questions I have: 1 what sort of lift capacity...
