Thank you so much for the reply! Really. Now my mind is at ease after spending $1000 on a Kohler mini block last year, among so many other things. Man, have I learned a lot about skid steers over the past 16 months. I guess I'll just have to tolerate the noise while knowing it's normal. :-)
