Also, I meant to ask someone if they know what the electrical box that is behind my left elbow while operating the machine is. It has a stitch and dial reostat. The former owner had no idea what it was. thanks.

Great! Thank you for the info and help. I was looking into what you told me about the "float mode" and discovered the pedal bolt rubbing up against the frame. Apparently the bushings wore allowing the bolt to slide over enough to make contact. I couldn't figure out what you are talking about...

Thanks for replying, I didn't know about the float feature. The pedal is stuck in the neutral position. When it locked up, the bucket was only a foot or two off the ground and settled to the bottom slowly. (about 10 seconds). Hope that helps and ty for your help.
