I am sure this repower will be in my future. My 1816 still runs a Tecumseh motor. Did you have to modify the plate the engine mounts to? Did it just bolt in and if not what did you have to modify?

I assume its smoking out the exhaust. Could be blow by. Running it hard for a while it could be getting hot. Might have weak piston rings. You could run it like that forever but might end up having to top off oil every now and then.

Little update. Since I got the 1816 I noticed that the engine rpms were very difficult to control. If the clutch wasnt engaged the rpms would skyrocket. Turning down the throttle lever would only decrease rpms a little bit but at that point if I engaged the clutch the engine would stall. I...
