How bad of an idea would it be to get rid of the clutch all together and run a fixed pulley? It'll be stored inside a heated garage. To my knowledge, the clutch is only there to allow the motor to heat up before the load of the cold hydraulics is placed on it. Correct?

So, I just picked up an 1816 on the cheap and started tearing into it today. I got a lead on a different engine for it due to the original motor being locked up. I pulled off the old three channel pulley and seem to be missing the magnetic coil. The guy I bought it off of seemed sold on the idea...
