    Trawled through the manual but it's not telling me much of use. Where does the throttle derive its friction from to hold it at constant revs? I figure it has to come from either the throttle lever mechanism or the speed plate. Trouble with adusting at the speed plate is that is is fiddly as hell...

    The welded nut idea is good, but its actually easier and more effective to weld the broken stub to a heavy washer first, (like a shock washer), and then weld a nut or bolt to the washer. You get a far better weld between the washer and the broken stub than you will trying to weld down the inside...

    I'm thinking the most likely culprit is using the auger attachment over to one side instead of in the middle. Especially since most of the augering I do requires getting the machine up on one or no wheels, the tie down point at the rear, and with the rest of the weight on the auger. Kind of...

    Yeah, it was new. Reckon its fairly poor for 4,000 hours but it's not had a luxurious life. Maybe I did it when it fell over.....oops. Handy to know it fixes okay. Had visions of chasing cracks all over the machine like a bad scene from Earthquake. Thanks Tazza.
