How much lower are the angle iron plates put compared to the side plates or are they level with the sides.

I just brought home a Case 1840 skid steer it has two aux. lines in front and a red button on one of control arms. If I where to get an attachment that uses the skids hydraulic, I can see how to hook them up but is the red button on the control arm used to trigger the hydraulics and if so how...
