The Chinese copy really well, so no mistakes, the base GX620 has only a 3 amp coil and that's the one they obviously copied, you can get a 10amp & 20amp stator config for them, but assume they were in different versions!!

I think I have answered my own question, I've been Googling and have worked out that the Loncin 2v78 is a copy of the Honda GX620, it looks like Honda do a 20amp stator part for the GX620 so i will research that option to see if it will actually fit.

Your spot on, there is no other method to get a descent charge output to run everything and charge the battery! I don't know why they have such a small charge circuit, the stator on this engine is only one single coil, compared to a Kohler that has 18!! I think my only option is to try and see...

I looked at that but the hydraulic pump is direct coupled to the back of the engine and there is no crankshaft viewable, I'm not even sure how the pump is connected to the crank, it must be a slip fit on a keyway and then bolts direct to the engine.
