I have a Case 1740 and the hydraulics work....but not well. I can't find any leaks anywhere but I'm getting air in the lines somehow. Anywhere I open a line it comes out with tiny bubbles in it almost like a froth but when the fluid settles it looks fine and the correct color. Again all the hoses are tight and no leaks but when I turn off the machine I hear a hissing sound coming from the right side of the shaft that has the big pulley on it right where the shaft enters the side wall. Any suggestions??? Is the pump bad and causing the froth?? I appreciate any help or suggestions.

Have you changed the filters? even check that there isn't a suction line filter hidden somewhere.
With that said, it could be a bad pump, but i can't say for sure that it is.

I changed the main filter and don't really know what I'm looking for as far as what a suction line filter looks like.
