Hello. I'm new to the forums and I am looking at a used bobcat in my local area that needs some work. It has a brand new Kubota V2203 but ever since the owner installed it the machine won't move any more. Its a 7753 loader that is in really rough condition cosmetically. But it doesn't show a lot of wear on pins etc. I'm on a tight budget and I'm very mechanically inclined but I don't want to get in a financial position that I can't get out of. The owner wants $4,000 for it as is. What do you guys think?

Hard to say without knowing why it doesn't move. Could be a simple problem with the belt drive or worse case a bad hydro. Too tough to say, simple fix, screaming deal. Needs a hydro, pushing all cost to point of just buying a running working one.

Thanks for the reply. The owner said that it would move after he installed the new engine but he said the lift and bucket were hooked up incorrectly, he said everything would move but not as it was supposed to. The owner wasn't there when my brother and I went look at it. We jumped the glow plugs and started the engine right up. Right great! But we didn't have 12 volts on the whole harness so maybe that's why I couldn't move it. I wish I could post pics because like I said it's really rough but all surface rust and chipping paint. The seat and engine cover are missing though. I was hopeful I could pick it up and do a small refurb and use it around the house, also make a little money on the side. (I do minor construction and concrete work)

What do you think he would take for it? Sounds like some electrical work and maybe some hydraulic plumbing to straighten out, best case. Be ready for a project though. If you can get it cheap enough, the back up plan would be to part it out. Don't be afraid to go in low, like $2000. HTH - SR

he is willing to let me work on it at his ranch till I get it going. I'm thinking it wouldn't take any longer than a day or so to diagnose the problem and get it moving so I can load it on the trailer. (He is certain it's a crossed line problem). He also told me to give him 3K and take it home and after 30 days if I'm not happy he would refund my money. If I was happy then I would pay him the other 1K. All of this in writing of coarse. He's just an older guy that doesn't have the will to work on it anymore. I think I'll go for it. I just wanted to know worst case scenario for 4K. I guess I could part it out and get the majority of my money back.

For $4000, you will be miles ahead of the guys who buy 743 for $7000.

Sounds like a pretty sweet deal to me. I don't think you can really go wrong. Keep us posted.

Sounds like a few hoses got crossed & electrical was not reconnected. I think it could be an awesome deal.
I cant remember off hand, but didn't the 7753 have that dreaded seat switch? I think if you could pick it up for 3k you would make your money back parting out like mentioned above. Selling the engine/injector pump alone and you would making profit.

It's about that vintage for a seat switch, but it could have been updated already.
