I have been looking at crawler carriers that are equipped with post pounders(http://www.solofencingsystems.com/soltrak). They all have the drive controls on the outside of the machine with pounder controls so you can walk along behind the machine while pounding posts. I would like to look into doing this with my Gehl 4640. It has T-Bar controls which are mechanical not hydraulic or electric. I'm thinking I'll have to run these controls mechanically with cables. I do understand the danger of being on the outside of the skid steer while it is driving but on the level ground I think this is the way to go. Does anyone have an idea of what I'd need to do?

I never knew you could actually make the machine drive while outside running the pounder. You may be limited to newer machines with hand controls.
You may be stuck with running it with a helper to move the machine while you operate the pounder.

All bobcats with joysticks can be remote controlled. The kit is about $10,000.
