753 wheel bearings

I signed up to change the wheel bearings in a 753. I have done the wheel bearings on a 642b before. What do i need to know that is different? Anything special i need to know. I haven't looked at it yet. Do I have to pull the Hydro? God i hope not.

Pretty much the same job as the 642B except the 753 has the 2 piece axles(hub is pressed on the end of the axle). The 642B service manual says you can pull the axle with slide hammer after removing the nut that holds the sprocket on. 753 manual says you need a small port-a-power cylinder to press the axle out of the sprocket from inside the chaincase.

On my 743 I took off the twenty bolts and pull the whole chain case out no way I would have tryed with it in had to pull the engin just to get the one nut the top off the case for linkage had to get a 10 ton porta power with a small ram to get the inside races in learned a few new words lol

i got them all apart. I was wondering what a fair price is to charge this guy. It only took me about 3 hours to get all four apart. I want to give him a good price, but interested to know what a dealer might charge. The axle tubes are worn on the very outside bottom edge just a tad. I think they will be ok. I'm not sure if he want the hyd. motor support bearings changed. That will add several hours of work. let me know what you think. p.s. I couldn't believe how easy the bearings were to access. never worked on a newer style. always the older ones.

From the price quotes I have heard about from dealers, just charge him what you have in it time wise, at around $50hr (8hrs total?)and it should be more than fair.

It will be a bit more fun coming I learned a few new words on the back inside races and if you did not break the chains keep small children away

I think 50-80 per hour of actual work is a good working point. From other posts i have read when the dealer has done jobs like this they say it will take 10 hours at 100+ per hour when i know i could do it in half that time. I think they have a book like they have for cars that says allow for this much time, when it can be done a lot faster.
If not change the other bearings, inspect them for wear. They do run in an oil bath, they may be just fine. Saves him a few hundred in searings alone.
