Morning, I just called the Bobcat dealer looking for some lower pins and bushings for my Bob-tach. $75.28 each for the pins, and $81.13 for the bushings! Yikes! So, the question, are generic replacements available? If I make my own pins, what metal should I use? The part number for the pins is 6502779, and the bushing p/n is 6502787. Regards, Tim in Mass

I'd assume the pins in the arms will be a taper, so if you have the gear, you can copy it and machine bushings to suit. I used 4140 when i made mine and got them nitrided. I'm sure OM will be better for this question as he knows his steel far better than I.
Another way i have cheated in the past was to remove the pin and mount the taper end in the lathe and centre the worn end, machine it down so i could press a sleeve over it to bring it back to the correct diameter, this way i didn't need to try and match the taper. The repair is still working.

Tazza, thanks for the reply. These pins are straight, with no taper. I did some searching and it seems to agree with your suggestion of 4140, although your suggestion of nitriding was new to me. The bushing are not worn too bad, and this will never be used commercially again, as long as I own it. So I may leave the bushings alone, at least for now and see how tight it is with new pins. Thanks again. Tim in Mass
