I have a 743 with a 1702 I think it might have been replace because it is very clean for a 30+ year engine and all the little injector rubber lines and everything else is painted the same as the engine what do you guys think?

If the engine was manufactured before 1997 it will just be 4-6 numbers. Starting in 1997 the first 2 digits can be used to determine the date.

That being said someone could have just sprayed the engine when it was out or it could be a rebuild. If it was a Kubota factory authorized rebuild it would have a label saying so.

Yes, any of the hoses(excess fuel, bypass and crankcase vent) that are part of the engine assembly are painted when they are new.
