jd 8875 miss fires and stalls

hi guys I have a 96 8875 skid steer was going to use it yesterday to move some snow and I started it and the engine started to slow down and start to miss fire and eventuly stall it has a new injection pump on it I drained the fuel water separator alittle water but not much im stumped

I would go cheap and easy first vent in the fuel cap loosen to check air filter or fuel line pluged or sucking air

If that has the little inline filter change that also, it is thought that in cold weather particles of wax or whatever you call it collect on the filter media. Take it off and see if you can blow through it easily.

ok I have an inline fuel filter I will try that I also have a fuel additive stanadyne performance formula fuel additive should I put some of that in too

I don't know about the stanadyne, I used power service 911 , had to do it twice now. I think I got a little fuel that was not treated but when I put it in a can overnight at 20 below it did not thicken or cloud at all. I have been told by several people that a glass of gasoline in the tank will work too . Have not had to try that though.

I think I will begin changing the small see through filter at least a couple times a year. It only cost 5 bucks and the water separator spin on filter is 20. After seeing what the little one caught I doubt that the spin on one has much dirt in it. When you get the see thru from wix you can get either a fine screen one or a pleated paper. I do feel the paper will catch more crud but jmho.

I think the unit in question uses the pleated filter for the prefilter but here is something to think about. The more restriction in the system the more likely the fuel will gel/wax so in extreme cold temps the screen type filter may be a better choice. The application for the filters is generally the screen is used for gravity feed systems and the pleated is for pump fed systems. Given the description of the issue I would expect fuel filters and would change both. Many fuel filters are also water seperators that once contaminated with water will not flow fuel or water even though they have a drain to get the water out of the bowl.
