Hi all, i just bought a Bobcat 310 skid loader for plowing snow in my yard. I chained up the rear tires and i'm very impressed with this little machines abilities in the snow. I'm used to running 863's and such, but this little machine is great. The clutches may need adjusting, but i cannot find any info on how to do this. Anyone have any tips? Also, the hydraulics are a little sluggish. Whats a good hydraulic oil to run in this machine for cold weather? Thanks for the help :)

Welcome to the forum Darren.
Sorry I don't have any experience with the 310. I can suggest that you purchase a service manual for the 310 from your local dealer. I think the manual for my skidsteer was only $30-$40, well worth it for the instructions, specs, and wiring diagrams.

Thanks for the reply, 500k. I ordered a service manual already, from a guy on ebay. I hope i get it soon. Any recomendations on the hydraulic oil? I was thinking that ATF might work. It's 30 below up here, and the hydraulics are slllloooooooowwww.

I am not sure about the different brands of hyd fluid but I only run bobcat fluid after hearing horror stories about mixing fluids and ruinined machines and pumps. I also dont know about temps but when its 30degs or colder I always start the machine and let idle for 10 mins before reving the RPM or moving. I treat it like a geriactric patient move them slow when old and cold.

Be VERY carefull when choosing oil, if you use an oil that is too thin the oil will cavetate and destroy your pumps. If i remember correctly, my manual said when operating in cold weather you can warm it up qicker by putting the unit into auxilary detent. This will put a load on the hydraulic system causing the oil to heat up quickly, this may help with your slugish hydraulic operation.

Yikes!!! thats awfully cold. I'd want to be in a heated cabin working in that weather, the wind would make it even worse..... I'm glad Brisbane never gets below 0 Degrees C. Good luck in the cold weather.

Itoo have heard horror stories of bobcats mixing oils and subsiquent failures however on these units you can use 10w30 or 10w40 engine oil instead of clark part#6563328 this is right out of the bobcat manual .I suspect that this is due to the fact that there is no hydrostatic drive used on this unit only belts there is just a very small hydraulic pump to run the loader .The drive system is belt drive to the clutches and I am struggeling with it right now .On my unit someone has removed the factory clutches and replaced them with a direct drive pulley .I would really like to get the 2 speed option back but it is sort of cost prohibitive through bobcat as I need both clutches .I am sure someone else besides bobcat has used these somewhere along the line but I have not even ever seen what they should look like .Could someone post a picture or even a parts breakdown of the belt clutch for a 310 or 313 ??
