what weight of hyd oil would be recomended for a 743 and what type of chaincase oil too
I run 15W40 in my 743 in both places. my winters sometimes gets down to 0 deg F.I personally run 20W50 in both on my 743, but my winter never gets below freezing.
Gotta replace both on the used 743 I bought last fall. I'll be using Bobcat's hyd oil (it's a bit more, but not that much) and then gear lube in the chaincase. Gear lube is as cheap as any other oil and figure it is the most designed for that application.I run 15W40 in my 743 in both places. my winters sometimes gets down to 0 deg F.
If by gear oil you are talking about 75/90 or heavier and in a cold climate I would not do it . Put in what the manufacturer recommends, that oil lubes wheel bearings also.Gotta replace both on the used 743 I bought last fall. But then again trucks and cars run around in cold weather with gear oil in differentials all the time or they did till synthetic came along. If by gear oil you are talking about 75/90 or heavier and in a cold climate I would not do it . Viscosity isn't that much different between 10w30 motor and 80W gear. Isn't it nice that similar numbering from API for two types of oils means different things? But then again trucks and cars run around in cold weather with gear oil in differentials all the time or they did till synthetic came along.
