Well after 400hrs I finally had a break to changed all the fluids and filters on my 03 864 bobcat. I changed the oil hydro and air filters, did the fuel and now it wont start back up. I filled the filter with diesel before installing it, when I use the hand pump it pushing fuel out the bleeder valve that on top the fuel filter. Still wont start so I cracked the lines and used the hand pump and fuel pumps out but it still wont start. I'm stumped on it, it has roughly 10gallons of diesel in it and the fuel line inside the tank was replaced last year so it shouldnt be gone. Any ideas or help would be great thanks.

turn all the injector lines 1 - 1 1/2 turn loose at injectors. Crank until fuel is spitting out. best to tighten when cranking and spitting at the same time. Should do the trick.

How do you get in there to loosen the lines on top of the injectors, I cant get a wrench on it for nothing. Thanks for the help.

Ok finally got the top of the injectors knocked loose, I've cranked on it off an on for close to an hour still no fuel getting to the top of the injectors. When I hand pump it im getting diesel to the air screw on top of the filter and up to where it goes into I guess the pump for the injectors and it stops there. Any other ideas? Thanks in advance, this thing is driving me nuts, and making me angry.

every once in a while i get one so air locked i have to remove the fuel shut off to get one to prime up but not very often. Did it start right after you changed the filter and run itself out or did it just never start at all after the filter change. Does it smoke at all when starting? does it sound normal when cranking or does it sound like it is cranking faster than normal? Could be timing belt.

No it didnt start back up after filter change. It doesnt smoke when trying to start it so that how I knew it wasnt getting fuel. and it does sound normal when cranking it.

does the primer bulb get hard when primed? if it does it sounds like you need to start trouble shooting the fuel shut off solenoid on the right hand side of the engine under the alternator.

sounds like you may have another problem , if it ran before you changed the filter then after you changed the filter even if you didn't do a good job on repriming it should have started and ran for a few seconds till it used up the fuel already in the system -----------could have have disconnected a wire somewhere or blew a fuse while doing your service , the run kill solinoid is the most likely problem , I would guess you have a Duetz engine in that 864 , if so there is a square plug with a small screw in the middle of it which holds it together going into the kill solinoid and connection problems are common on that plug , if you have someone engage the ignition while you are in the back by the run kill solinoid then you should hear a snap when it engages if not then check fuses , rlays , wires nd the solinoid itself --------------another thing is if you believe it is a fuel prime problem a good way to eliminate a lot of problems at one time is to get a can of fuel and strap it on the radiator grill and run the primer bulb and hose to it hand pump the hell out of it while someone is spinning it or use a remote starter switch , this would elimante a bad or clogged pickup tube , clogged up check ball in the primer bulb , bad lift pump , etc ,

A diesel mechanic came today and looked at it, hes thing that there is a sensor bad that controls the fuel shut off for when you turn it off. I'm goin to bobcat tomorrow to see about a service manual cause I dont have no info on it, or break down of whats what and where everything is. Wheres that relay you are talking about at? I'm not getting any fuel up to the injectors, we toke the fittings off the pump on the motor and we can hand pump fuel up until we put the fittings back in thats what makes him think there is a sensor bad. It is the Duetz motor, we did check all the fuses and relays that are down by your legs and all is good there. Again thanks for all the help this thing is frustrating, especially since its mine and my brothers and we use it for business he doesnt get the concept of something happening so I've been working like crazy on it to try and get it going.

Found the solenoid and took it off and it fired right up. The part for it is like $500 bucks, if anyone knows of a place to buy discounted bobcat parts that would be awesome. Thanks for all the help!

can you messaure the resistance of the solenoide is must be 3.2 ohmfrom red to black without leaking to the outside
Oil cooled Deutz engine?
If so, you can call a Deutz dealer and get a solenoid from them. I remember a member did this before, it was quite a bit cheaper too.

There was a update to the harness connection to the shut off solenoid. Not sure if it could help. PT#6686716. The solenoid was updated also. Pt#6686715

I know I am a little late here but you can get the solenoid much cheaper if you call a Deutz dealer. I went on Deutz's website and looked up the closest dealer and then called them. I think I got the solenoid for less than $200 shipped to my door
