Hello my 763 is limping. It started yesterday when I went to start it. It hit and ran for 3 seconds then died. It is about 30 degrees here so I figured it was just cold. This machine always starts great even in the single digits. It then wouldn't start like it was sucking air. I went ahead and primed the bulb and it got hard opened bleeder screw and pumped up ball. It got hard and machine ran for 30 seconds then died like you shut the key off. After doing this twice I figured either it's gelled up or lift pump. Today I filled tank with fuel and additive, changed fuel filter and while I was at it I took the line off the lift pump that goes to the filter and while I turned the engine over I had someone watch and hardly any fuel came out. It came out great with primer bulb but I assumed while I was cranking engine over fuel should of came out of lift pump?? Anyway I went ahead and put her back together, bled air and it fired up. I used it for 20 minutes and it died. I then went back to the primer bulb and now it wont pick up any fuel at all. I took fuel cap off and opened petcock on filter, nothing but air. Almost like pickup tube fell off?? I haven't had any problems prior with this machine, infact dad used it a few days ago for several hours plowing snow and it worked perfect as usual. Any ideas would be a help. Thanks in advance.

daved, On my 873 there is a small filter on the end of the pickup tube in the fuel tank. It could be plugged. Some times the pickup tube will deteriorate as well. If the primer bulb is hard to pump and collapsed I would think it is the filter in the tank. The pickup tube is held in to the top of the tank with a rubber grommet, to remove it pry it up gently. Becareful not to drop it in the tank it is a small hole that it pulls out of. Rich M-37
Are these bad for that? Because if you squeeze the bulb now nothing happens. If you open the bleeder screw on the injector pump you can hear fuel trickle back into tank but very little and it just feels like your moving air, no fuel. I opened the petcock on filter and couldn't get anything to happen at all. It almost seems like it has to be that. What do you guys think?
As you have said that its just sucking air, you lost your pickup tube. They are prone to cracking and falling off in the tank. Lift the ROPS, Put your arm over the pump and feel around, there are two lines to the tank, one is pickup, the other is return. Find the pickup one and pull it out, replace the hose and you should be good to go.

Disregard I just ran to bobcat because I lost the whole tube. I decided the original screen would be best due to the size of the hole in the tank there wasn't alot of room for error. 17 bucks later and 20 minutes worth of holding my tongue just right were back in business. This was fairly easy and inexpensive to fix. Thanks to all for the input and for reading.
daved, keep in mind that if you can not get the tube out of the tank it will deteriorate. what is left in the tank breaks down and can clog the little filter. What i did was to cut my pickup tube back about 1". I have not had a problem with it since I did this. Rich M-37
