Hey everyone, kind of new here. Have a question on the fuel solenoid. When the machine is cold I have to manually pull it back in the engine compartment for it to start. When the machine gets warm it works properly most of the time. Tried another solenoid & it does the samething. Anyone have any ideas on this problem. It seems like its not getting the proper voltage. The wires go to a coil pack on the side of the engine comparment. Can't find what voltages should be on these. Theres a white, red, & black wire. Any help would be greatly appreciated. A buddy tells me to gear a cable in side the cab so I don't have to get out but I want to fix it properly. Thanks.

The voltage should be 12 volts on 2 of the wires, one should be powered whenever the key is on( Hold circuit), One should have power for just a split second when the key is first turned on, then no voltage. The 3rd is a ground. That little black box is a timer, to control the length of time the pull circuit is on. Without the timer the pull coil in the solenoid would burn out right away. Have you checked that the pivot in the linkage isn't binding, preventing the coil from working properly?

I'll have to check the voltages first then. The linkage seems to be working fine. Its weird because it wont engage when the machine is cold at all but will sporatically when its warm. I'll do somemore trouble shooting & repost my findings. Thanks.

Its possible you have some muck in the solenoid too, when it warms up it may allow it to move?
If the adjustment is out, not allowing it to fully seat, it will pull but not hold.
It could also be a bad solenoid.
