Ok...here's the story. I picked up a 610 with what I thought was bad bearings on the crankshaft. Ended up that the crank was broken in half. After an exhaustive search...I found a salvage yard with what I was told was a good crankshaft. They ground it .10 and sent it to me. Ends up, the crank was from a vf4 and is offset 180 degrees vs. 90 for the vh4d. So, its the same block, pistons, connecting rods and flywheel...can I change the camshaft and change the order of the plugs to make this work? This machine is going to be used to move snow and small landscaping projects around the house...anyone done this? On the surface this doesn't seem to be to difficult, but it wouldn't be the first project that cost me more than its worth.

You should be able too, the Ford 302 and 351w had a different firing order, you could use the 351 cam in a 302 but had to swap plug wires to the 351 firing order.
The part I would question the most was if the flywheel had a neutral balance in both cases. The machine shop should be able to add some guidance.Go slow and re think it all.

I spoke to the guys at my machine shop and I think I have this figured out...the crank from a vf4 will work in the vh4d, provided the camshaft and lifters are changed as well. They also indicated that with a little headwork and a few "go-kart" tricks they thought we might be in the 37-40hp range...

Well the engineers at Wisconsin got back to me and they say that it won't work...but they can't tell me why it won't work. Again, I'm being outsmarted by a machine that's older than I am...

Well...the saga continues...ordered the 35hp BS conversion kit yesterday and am going to scrap the Wisconsin. Some would say I lost the battle...I say that I redefined my mission objectives. Anyone need to Wisconsin vh4d parts?
