I have an S 185 with a destroyed 7 wire connector. The machine end and the attachment end are both pretty much shot. The dealer wants about $220 for the parts to replace machine end and attachment harness. He says there is no "kit" to splice in to harnesses. Is this true? and does the price sound right? I am about ready to just use 7 wire trailer connectors on machine and attachment ( bobtach backhoe). This would eventually cause problems if I ever rent another attachment that needs this connection. Right now I am just jamming the 7 wires into what is left of the connectors. Any suggestions ?

If you can find a manufacturer mark or part number on the connector, you can probably track down a replacement from a good electronics store or find it on Google shopping,
Here's Amphenol's search page, they are pretty much the industry standard for quarter turn disconnects in the aviation and indutrial world.

Thanks Flyerdan for the leads. I think I'll go the 7 wire trailer connectors and move the thing to the side. When raised the connector is the first to hit overhead objects. Bad spot imo.

You might want to double-check that it will still work the same if you change the ends since the wires carry digital impulses rather than normal dc current. Don't know why it wouldn't, but I thought I'd warn you that the wires aren't carrying a "standard" current.

Didn't know that, Iowa Dave. Thanks for the heads up but I have trailer connectors installed and everything works as before. Total cost was under $20. I have no other attachments that need this 7 wire and probably will never rent one either. Just gotta quit raising boom 8 feet in a 7' garage door opening!!
